The Volyn Foundation, together with partners from Lithuania, Poland, and Greece, is proud to present an interactive tour that brings centuries-old castles to life: “The Belt of Vytautas.” This digital journey was developed as part of the DGTRAN project, supported by the Creative Europe Programme.
The tour invites visitors to explore 11 historical heritage sites connected with Vytautas the Great, one of the most influential rulers of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania. Through detailed 3D reconstructions, archival research, and immersive storytelling, the project uncovers the architectural and cultural legacy of the 14th–15th centuries across Ukraine, Poland, and Lithuania.
What makes this tour special?
The experience is not only visual but also multilingual and highly interactive. Visitors can enjoy audio narration in English, Ukrainian, Polish, and Lithuanian, making the stories accessible to a wide international audience. The tour offers a fresh and engaging way to learn about history.

Among the featured sites are:
- Lutsk Castle, Kyiv Castle, Kremenets Castle, Tyagyn Fortress, and Vytautas Tower in Ukraine;
- Drohiczyn Castle, Castle in Mielnik, and Castles in Bielsk Podlaski in Poland;
- Trakai Peninsula Castle, Merkine Castle, and Vilnius Upper Castle in Lithuania.
“The Belt of Vytautas” is an exciting example of how digital innovation can preserve and promote our shared cultural heritage.
