The Creative Europe DGTRAN project aims to digitally transform cultural heritage by creating 3D models of significant historical sites across Ukraine, Poland, and Lithuania. This initiative is part of the broader “Belt of Vytautas” project, which seeks to connect various cultural heritage sites associated with Vytautas the Great, fostering cross-border cooperation and cultural tourism.

In Ukraine, the selected objects for 3D modelling include the Vytautas Tower, Kyiv Castle, Krements Castle, Lutsk Castle, and Tyagyn Fortress. These historical sites are vital components of Ukraine’s rich cultural heritage and hold significant historical value.

In Poland, the chosen sites are Bielsk Castle, Drohiczyn Castle, and Mielnik Castle. These castles are key landmarks that reflect the historical and cultural ties between Poland and the legacy of Vytautas the Great.

In Lithuania, the project focuses on Gediminas Castle, Merkine Castle, and Trakai Castle. These castles are essential to Lithuanian history and culture, representing the architectural and historical achievements of the region during Vytautas’s reign.

The creation of these 3D models not only helps preserve these important sites but also makes them accessible to a wider audience through digital means. By integrating these models into the “Belt of Vytautas” project, DGTRAN enhances cultural appreciation and promotes heritage tourism across these three countries.
